EqualSTEM
EqualSTEM is UDGI’s flagship nonprofit education program that facilitates equitable access to quality learning for students from government schools across 28 states and 7 union territories of India. This initiative bridges the educational and digital divides in India and prepares students, especially young girls, for careers and lives of their choosing.
Regarded as one of the best nonprofits for education, UDGI’s EqualSTEM program targets secondary students in grades 6-10. It primarily trains educators in basic computer literacy and pedagogical methodologies that together bring creativity, diversity, and real-life examples into the school curriculum through the use of technology. EqualSTEM exemplifies the impact education nonprofits can have on improving learning outcomes and fostering digital inclusion.
Why EqualSTEM
At UDGI Foundation, we believe every child deserves equal access to quality education — regardless of their gender, background, or geography. But in underserved communities, digital infrastructure, exposure to technology, and future-ready skills are often missing. That’s why we are on a mission to bridge the digital and educational divide through innovative, tech-enabled learning.
- Bridge the digital and educational divides in India.
- Reduce the gender gap in STEM education and future workforce.
- Enhance the ability of teachers to integrate technology into pedagogy.
- Align resources, systems, and processes in STEM education.
- Mitigate learning loss caused by the pandemic.
UDGI serves as a testament to how education nonprofits can create transformative impacts by opening new learning pathways for disadvantaged children.

How EqualSTEM Works
Adopting best practices from the nonprofit education sector, EqualSTEM works with the state and district-level education departments to strengthen the public education system and improve the learning experience and outcomes of students in government schools. As an educational non profit initiative, UDGI leverages the digital infrastructure in schools to enhance the learning process for all students by focusing on:
- Enabling teachers and educators to integrate technology-based pedagogy and digital content in the teaching-learning process.
- Empowering students, especially adolescent girls, with knowledge and agency to pursue education and careers in STEM.
- Building partnerships with government, knowledge, and tech sectors to prepare for a digital future and 21st-century skilling.
As one of the best nonprofits for education in India, UDGI is dedicated to addressing these key strategic areas, bridging the digital divide, and ensuring every child in India receives a quality education.
