🌸 StreeSwabhiman Project

The StreeSwabhiman Project is UDGI Foundation’s flagship initiative focused on women’s empowerment through menstrual health awareness, hygiene education, and sanitary pad distribution in rural and underserved communities.
The project breaks taboos and educates adolescent girls and women about safe menstrual practices, hygiene, and reproductive health.
It also provides access to free or low-cost sanitary pads and builds confidence through group discussions, workshops, and women-led leadership circles.
The aim is to ensure “Swasth Naari, Swabhimani Naari” – a healthy woman is a self-respecting woman.

Why StreeSwabhiman

In rural India, millions of girls and women still suffer silently due to the lack of menstrual awareness and access to hygienic products.
Stigma, shame, and silence often lead to school dropouts, infections, and emotional distress.
Many girls use unsafe materials like cloth, ash, or newspaper during periods due to poverty or unavailability.
The StreeSwabhiman Project empowers women with knowledge, dignity, and basic resources to manage their health with confidence.

🔹 Main Focus Areas

  1. Menstrual Hygiene Awareness – Educate girls and women on safe, healthy period practices.

  2. Pad Distribution Drives – Provide free or affordable sanitary pads in schools and villages.

  3. Breaking the Taboo – Create open, stigma-free spaces for women to talk about menstruation.

  4. Health & Hygiene Sessions – Include personal hygiene, reproductive health, and body positivity.

  5. Women Empowerment Circles – Form village-based groups to continue awareness and peer support.

How the StreeSwabhiman Works

UDGI Foundation runs this project through schools, anganwadis, SHGs, and village centers with the help of trained female educators.
Workshops are conducted using flipcharts, models, and videos to make learning interactive and relatable.
Sanitary pads are distributed monthly through community champions, health workers, or vending machines in schools.
We also partner with local leaders, health professionals, and women influencers to scale the message and reduce shame.

🔸 Key Activity Areas

  1. School Awareness Sessions – Conduct interactive menstrual health sessions for adolescent girls.
